BEIS Confirm Date for Non-Domestic Suppliers to be DCC Ready

Posted on:

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has finally confirmed the date by which non-domestic energy suppliers must be DCC ready . The deadline has been set as 31 August 2018 meaning that SMETS2 meters need to be operated via the DCC from this date.

Additionally, BEIS have published a consultation on the draft legal text required to implement this policy decision. This includes the introduction of an Enrolment mandate and a non-domestic DCC User mandate (requiring non-domestic suppliers to become DCC Users by 31 August 2018), as well as consequential changes to the DCC Licence, SEC and Supply Licence Conditions.

The consultation also seeks views on two additional policy proposals that are designed to better reflect the needs of non-domestic energy consumers and the need for proportionate regulation:

  • A proposed exemption to the non-domestic DCC User mandate for non-domestic only suppliers that supply a limited number of designated premises and do not have customers with SMETS2 meters; and
  • A proposal to allow energy suppliers to offer large, multi-site energy consumers a choice between a SMETS2 meter and an advanced meter at premises covered by the smart meter mandate.

The documents can be found on GOV.UK at the following links:

We are asking all of our suppliers to keep us updated on their DCC preferences to ensure that we are fully prepared for the new conditions.

Datamere’s Latest Recruit.

Posted on:

We’ve recently been joined in the Datamere Office by Sharon Meehan who has taken on the Project Co-ordinator role within the business. Sharon joined us in May this year and has been instrumental in structuring the new and ongoing projects within Datamere. It’s a brand-new role created to manage the ever-increasing workload within the team and most importantly, to provide clients with clear and measurable milestones that we are all working towards.

Sharon has a wealth of experience in this area having worked in the IT industry for 25 years, providing customer support and managing projects for a range of different companies including Sungard, AstraZeneca and BASF.

She will be working closely with all clients (with an ongoing project), and capture business changes and service issues while offering root cause analysis to reduce the level of any ‘unknowns’.  Additionally, Sharon will act as a dedicated point of contact in order to ensure we are meeting the needs and requirements of our broad customer base.

On a personal level Sharon enjoys cycling, socialising, and walking Freddie the dog. She likes to set herself regular challenges with two planned for 2018; running the Manchester 10k race and cycling from Manchester to Blackpool! Continue reading »
