New Government Energy Proposals

The government has published its proposals to offer better deals for energy consumers which will undoubtedly have an impact on the way suppliers run their businesses. These proposals build on those listed in the recent Ofgem Retail Market Review and the government intends to include these in the forthcoming energy bill.

Only 36 Days to Go

“36 days to go but Christmas has started early at Datamere. Decorations are up, tree is illuminated and the mince pies are in the kitchen. Actually I lied, the mince pies have been eaten!

Keeping with the movie theme from last month it’s nearly time to break out those Christmas movies, such as: Home Alone, Bad Santa, Die Hard, Snowman, Elf, Gremlins, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, Muppets Christmas Carol and of course Scrooged!

Ofgem look to Extend Micro Business Criteria

Ofgem have launched a new consultation to ensure an additional 150,000 businesses are included under the micro-business scheme. Under the new rules consumers spending up to £10,000 per year on each fuel will be included (the current level is £5000 per year on each fuel).

Ofgem Publishes Retail Market Review Consultation Document

Ofgem has set out updated proposals to ensure that the domestic retail energy market is simpler, clearer and fairer for all consumers. Clearly this will have an impact on gas suppliers with the main focus being around limiting the number of tariffs available as well as standardising the way tariffs are made up.
